The New House is Painted!

As I begin working on the new house, I would like to thank everyone who helped me and encouraged me in this endeavor, which has been my dream for several years now. I would also like to thank all of those who have hindered me, as adversity makes victory so much sweeter.

The new community house, which had been painted two shades of purple, is now two shades of grey blue. I was a bit nervous about the colors, but as soon I saw the newly painted house, I knew that I had made the right decision. The house has brightened the neighborhood with its clean and new paint job.

The interior of the house is in good shape with all of the walls in brown siding and cabinets of real varnished wood. I decided not to change that because it looks so beautiful like it is. The colors for the interior of the house are included below. If you have anything you would like to donate or buy for the house itself, keep these earth tone colors in mind. I would like to preserve an earth tone scheme in the curtains, furniture, and decor.
The interior decor will be mostly homemade art with a radical Christian theme. The interior items that I am looking for are furniture, a bead curtain, drapes, paints, plants, and empty canvases. I would be especially interested in a small upright piano. This piano would be put to very good use as I can play the piano myself and can provide music for devotionals and provide basic piano lessons for free.

The functional items needed are a washer, a dryer, a refrigerator, an electric stove, and clothing racks of some sort. I would prefer these to be in very good condition, if not new. I realize that something is better than nothing, but we must remember the cost and trouble of repairs that may arise later. Good quality appliances means less drama later, once we begin functioning. Smaller functional items that we need are pots, pans, enough dishes for 8: dinner plates, salad plates, silverware, glasses.
The supplies that we need are many and various. First and foremost, we need a steady supply of canned goods and nonperishable foods to fill the pantry for needy neighborhood families and homeless people. Also, we are interested in used casual clothing for grown men: jeans, t-shirts, flannel shirts, shoes, boots, and work wear. We also need new socks, white tshirts, and underwear. We will need soap, shampoo, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shaving cream.
**I plan to have a garage sale every quarter to help defray the cost of running the house. Keep in mind that any donated items that we cannot use could be sold in the garage sale. So, if your donations are not on the list, you may donate them anyway.
At this time, if anyone wants to organize a team to help me deep clean the house [scrubbing, cleaning hard to reach places, washing walls, changing lights, picking up trash in the yard, cleaning windows, moving items.] This Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to deep cleaning. If you would like to take part, please let me know.
Also, if there are any artists that would like to help me create radical Christian art for the walls, please let me know.

For information or to donate, please send me an email at glafosse@kilgore.edu. I'll answer promptly and we can plan. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN FRIENDSHIP COMMUNITY HOUSE.
